The Catacombs… so you go from never having seen a human skeleton to seeing thousands upon thousands of them.

It is an ossuary below the city containing the remains of about 6 million people. When the cemetaries were overflowing and causing problems in the late 18th century they moved them to these underground mines. They were quite artistically arranged, see the heart I took a picture of above.

Translations of the inscriptions:

“Thus ends everything on earth:
Spirit, Beauty, Talent, Grace,
Short-lived like a fleeting flower
Blown down by the slightest breeze.”

“Happy is he who always keeps the hour of his death before him and spends every day dying.”

And one I didn’t take a picture of:

“They were what we are
dust, toy of the wind;
fragile like men.
weak like nothingness!”

I panic when I see a tiny cute honeybee and I miss the comfortable world I lived in before I knew these existed…
“The venom contains 5% acetylcholine, a greater concentration than is present in bee or other wasp venoms. Acetylcholine stimulates the pain nerve fibers, intensifying the pain of the sting.”
Oh and it’s sting releases a chemical that attracts more of them to you, it can sting repeatedly and you can die from being stung if there is enough venom.

Click through and watch ‘Birds’. Yes. Dogs and lasers.
I remember when this came out a few years ago it seemed like it was such good quality, and now it seems so small. But still, just try to look away.
The music is by Vitalic.

This is pretty overwhelming. I’m sure there’s an English version out there, but I like this one.

Oh man. I don’t know what this guy is about, but his slow, awkward ‘poledancing’ is rather amusing. I commend his efforts though.
